People Saying It Better Than Me
This article from the magazine Ship of Fools is very good on why kitsch objects (in U.S. these are things like Precious Moment figurines and Kinkade paintings.) are not good religion (much less good art).

Well now, uh..I've been enlightened.
I loved the article! And though it seems hard to handle there and was comical, ther is definite truth in it. I've always been bothered by the Away in a Manger lyrics:
"The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes;
I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky and stay by my cradle till morning is nigh."
Why is the assumption that Jesus the baby in full human form wouldn't cry? Of course he'd cry! He was fully human and fully a baby at that time.
I also have been fascinated by the way art imitates the world's theology at the time. The idea of Christ having to be fully God and Human is so hard to grasp. The paintings where Jesus is obviously small (to denote being a baby) but really in fact looks like a small little man. So weird! My idea of Kitsch.
I haven't read the article yet, but no argument from me, on the surface at least!
Ahh! I hate Kincade paintings! Is it even possible for anyone to use more purple paint than him?
I'm ok.
My Dad loves Kincaid... teehee
But then he loves purples and pinks. One of our garages once had a purple and pink racing stripe painted all around it. I'm not joking!
